In most privately owned organisations in Nigeria, most cases arising at work are often treated privately without proper analysis of the situations that led to the cases or the professional, cultural and moral characteristics, and pedigree of the individuals involved in the cases.
For example, if the Financial Manager is a friend to the Managing Director unofficially, his matters and needs are responded to quicker than that of the Director of Operations, who has no unofficial relationship with the Managing Director.

In analysing management cases, there may be no right or wrong answers depending on the criteria used in analysing the cases and how convincing the proofs stated and reasons for decisions made seem. Take for instance the case below;
A certain factory worker (heavy duty equipment-operator), at a bottling company works Monday to Friday only from 7am to 7pm as stated in his employment offer letter. He is not allowed to work overtime and must take 2 days off work after every 5 days of work as stated in the health and safety regulations of his job. There are 5 operators in his department and he is one of them.
His factory has just received an order to produce double the quantity of products they normally produce for the next 72 hours, due to production shut down at another factory.
Today is Friday and it's already 7pm, he can not work overtime and does not work Saturdays and Sundays. His supervisor has just informed him about the order received, yet he packed his bag and left work to his home.
He was not at work on Saturday nor Sunday, he was welcomed by the security personnel on Monday morning at 6:45am with a letter querying him on Insubordination and Absence from work.
To me, he has done nothing wrong officially and ethically. What do you think?
