My friend Nora wa missing in action for a while, and i was almost
worried she had lost her inspiration for writing and telling stories
about the real events of life, or she followed a rich politician to the
end of the world and forgot all about me and the other bigmouthed
facebook friends like me.
No. Nora did not leave us nor follow a rich politician and the story below is an evidence;
About three + years ago , one of my friends best friend, who is in
another part of this same Canada , stopped taking her phones calls ,
deleted her number and cut off all communications with this my friend .
She told my friend that she is now a born again Christian and does not
want anything to do with my friend who apparently is still in the world !
My friend was like no problem ! They went their separate ways and
never spoke to each other again .
Few weeks ago , July 1st to be precise , while this my friend in question was driving me in her car , her phone ranged and it was this her born again friend ! She mentioned trying to get in touch with my friend for a long time but didn't have any of her contacts , but later realized that she still had my friend's Skype ID and luckily for her my friend picked up her call via Skype on that said day while I was in the car .
The lady mentioned urgently needing my friend's help . She insisted that my friend switch on the video on Skype before she could tell her what urgent help she needed ; my friend warned her that not only was she driving , but she also had someone else in the car , which the caller indicated was ok with her .
So my friend switch on the video, and I couldn't help but look . The lady looked so unkempt ; lets say today is Sunday and I will just leave her description at that .
Anyways , the next thing I know was that she bursted into hysterical tears and was like " I am pregnant " ! "Please I need your help to do an abortion as soon as possible!"
Till now , I still don't believe how my eyes managed to still remain in the eye sockets because
I don't think I have ever rolled my innocents eyes this much before .
Imagine , being subjected to listen in on a conversation that you have so much to say and yet out of courtesy ; you still need to keep quiet ? That was my predicament at that moment !
I kept listening in until she mentioned that the pregnancy was about 21 weeks old and I said to myself that's it , I can't take this any longer , and I interjected "this baby no get father? If you wanted an abortion , why wait till 21 weeks ?" And my friend was like , yes it's true oo , this my friend here is a Registered Nurse Clinician , please you two can continue the conversation, and in my mind , I was like hell no ! There is no way I want to be involved in this kind of mess , me and my ameboor mouth !
Anyways , the bottom line is that the father of her unborn child is a Brother in her church . She said the Pastor, his wife and the elders of the church have been trying to intervene, to convince Brother to marry her ; that she waited till now , 21 weeks , to see the outcome of the meetings, to see if the church can convince Brother , if Brother will change his mind ! Unfortunately for her , Brother maintains his NO ! According to her , while Brother in question while he was dating here in Canada, don even go Naija engage another woman sometime in February- March this year !
The lady in question does not have any status in Canada , in a layman's term , she no get paper! She no get work ! So the urgent help she needs from my friend is to either use my friend's medical card to go to the hospital for an abortion , or for my friend to assist her with payments for the procedure which is about $1500 ; because she does not have a status here and so she is not covered by insurance.
Can you imagine if you are my friend ? After your close friend cut you off from her life for over three years , for no just reason , other than she said she is born again and you are still in world !
Only for the same person, who called you a worldly person ,is now soliciting for your help , to a abort a pregnancy that her so called Brother in church is responsible for !!! Then you ask yourself, what type of God is she serving ? You get discouraged to be that Christian she claimed she was !
My people , what light have you been lucky and opportune to see in your life ? Is it Christianity? And now everyone around is a child of the devil ? Why don't you let that your light shine ? Why don't your life be an inspiration to make someone interested in your God ?
Did you you just get admission into the University? And now all your secondary friends are now small boys and girls to you ?
Did you relocate to obodo Oyibo ?And now all your friends in Nigeria are local champions ?
Did you get married ? And now all your friends are potential husband snatchers, home breakers and bad influences?
Did you just get a government appointment ? Did you financially make it big ? And now all your friends you used to drink garri with are all enemies of your progress , jealous of you and now possess juju and magical powers that can kill you ?
What light have you seen in your life ? How do you handle that light ? How and what do you base your assessment of people ? Are you sure you are as clean as those people you try to cut off based on your myopic and distorted judgements? Do not cut people off because of one or two good things you perceived happen for you ! Do not burn bridges for flimsy reasons !
Just because you feel you have made it , you have arrived !
Shine your light ! Let your light be a source inspiration and hope to others ; and not a source of hate and arrogance from you ! Have a blessed week ahead !
