I don't know about you but I find it very amusing, and hypocritical that on social media, it is generally acceptable for one to post pictures of themselves well dressed, on vacation, happy in their relationship, celebrating academic success, job promotion , cute new born, engagement , getting married, new car , new house ,with a celebrity or doing something positive , fun , and associated with success !
People will fall over themselves, contesting for whose comment will be the most creative and funniest on such post and updates , which is a good thing and I don't have problems with by the way !
However, when that same person makes an update or post a picture that shows that they are : having issues in their relationship , failed their exams , suffered a miscarriage, their car or house being repossessed , going through financial difficulties , lost their job or whatever life related setbacks it might be , people will run to their inbox to tell them to bring the post down ! Trying to insinuate that those things are personal and should be kept off social media !
My question and confusion remains this : why is it acceptable for one to share information about themselves being happy with their Boo or Bae , job promotion , or doing something positive and associated with success on social media , but is not acceptable for them to share what the society considers negative ?
If facing life challenges is considered private and personal matter that should be kept off social media , then is being successful or positive not a private and personal achievements as well ?
Let's be honest here , positive and negative aspects of life coexists , we all have our personal struggles , so why celebrate one aspect of life while we pretend the other does not exist ?
Everyone is going through something , facing one challenge or another , even constipation and diarrhea can be a life threatening situation and a challenge, especially when you don't have a toilet available , lol !
Both Success and failure are personal ; whichever one you decide to share on social media , just bear in mind that you are still sharing your personal life ! So enough of this noise about , I keep my private abi na personal life away from social media ! Story for the gods !
