I Love What I Do! A Commercial/Business Aviation Manager.

I am Bisola Yejide Atie, I am a Commercial/Business Aviation Manager.

My journey in aviation started in 2005 with Aero Contractors in the newly designed call center at the time. Through hard work and determination to grow in this sector after 4 months I  was promoted and moved to the commercial department as a sales/marketing representative. I spent 3 years there learning about commercial aviation in the scheduled and non-scheduled aspect of aviation.

This made me further quest for more knowledge, and I was again promoted, and moved to the Corporate Development and Strategic Planning Department as a Client Services officer.

All of these experiences fueled my passion and interest, and I moved again to join the start-up team of TopBrass Aviation as the Client Services Manager. There we pioneered the use of private jets for time-share programs, and designed marketing packages that was of immense benefit to our clients  and succeeded in working extensively with the oil and gas companies with these packages. After some months being in TopBrass, I became the Head of the commercial department a position which I currently hold till date.

My career challenges have been the mundane and monotonous processes in the system that requires swift changes, but due bureaucracy and a lack of fore-sight by the executors and executive managers, may take a long time to arrive at any planned or expected results.

Very early experiences and training had taught me to keep my emotions tucked in while working, and allowing professionalism take a better part of my emotional display.

The career progression, the successful completions of projects, and signed contracts with the oil and gas companies are some of my achievements.

Setting goals and meeting and exceeding them motivates me. Seeing results, and successful completion of projects are all motivators to me.

Definitely, politics and Nigeria as a whole plays a vital role in the business. Aviation is a highly regulated sector, and as such some of the policies and regulations can' make or mar' the sector.

I hope to see a lot of improvements in the sector. First, having well trained professionals at the helms of affairs in the sector, the state of the infrastructure and runways at the airports should match any world class airport in the world. More collaboration among the operators is needed. Opening of more areas via construction of more airports, so there are expansions and closely knitting all parts of
the country together.

I would like to encourage all aviators, especially the young ones to rise up, desire and work towards a  professional and world class aviation sector that can match only the very best worldwide.
